Earl Hicks

November 9, 2009

Posted by Sharon Seligman Lomayesva ‘78

Mr. Earl Hicks, was one of few staff members that was at Woodbridge High School from its opening until it closed in 1995.  Mr Hicks, MSgt, USAF (ret.),75, passed away on October 13th in Ipswich, England.  He was an employee of Lakenheath Elementary School at the time.  In addition to being the supply clerk, Mr. Hicks was a mentor to students, assisted with the football team, went on field trips (including when WBHS students were at the fall of the Berlin Wall.) He felt close enough to WBHS students that he had a page on the this website (whsalum.ning) where several former students contacted him.  My father, Dr. Seligman, first WBHS principal, had high regard for Mr. Hicks and considered him to be an important role model to the students.

For those wishing to send cards to the Hicks family, the address is:

Mrs. Kathleen Hicks

UPDATE: Earl Hicks Obituary

Loss of a classmate

August 21, 2009

I received this from Beth Clerkin this morning and she wanted to share the news.

** It is with an extremely heavy heart and a profound sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of Debbie Paine Mariani Moffit. Class of ‘81.

Debbie and I formed a friendship back in high school that became stronger and stronger over the years. We maintained and nourished that friendship all of this time and our close friendship has been one of THE most important relationships in my life.

I love her very much and will miss her terribly.

Please say a prayer for her, her husband Bryan, her son Dario, her Dad, her brother Christopher and the rest of her family and friends.

R.I.P. Deb……

Thanks.
Beth Clerkin Jackson

July 31, 2009

Created by Ricky Hart and narrated by our very first school Principal, Dr. Seligman.

This video was presented at this year’s All Woodbridge High School Reunion in Las Vegas and was met with Great Reviews.

This DVD is chocked full of great yearbook photos, mixed with some great yester year music and intergraded with great video documentary from Dr. Seligman.

If you do not cry when you see this DVD then you are not a Warrior…..

Well, you do not have to cry, but you will be moved!!!!

We fell short of our goal of 200 Warriors, but those who attended, wow!!!! What a time to remember and to those, well…… you missed out, but you have a chance to redeem yourself for the next reunion.

If you don’t believe we had a good time, check out the pictures of those who attended.

A portion of the proceeds from this DVD will go to defer the costs of our shortage.

We understand a lot of you did not attend the reunion, but this DVD is a valuable keep sake and is a very special part of our heritage. Not only is there documentary from Dr. Seligman, but we have actual footage of his commentary.

As a bonus, you will receive a “Separate uncut version of the entire 25 minute commentary from Dr. Seligman.

We appreciate your order and Hope you enjoy this Video as much as I enjoyed making it.

toyblocksOne WHS Graduate has a good excuse for not attending the Reunion next month.

I was in the graduating class of 1983 (Beth Fry) and I am unable to attend the reunion due to the my first pregnancy. I don’t know how much detail you’d like.

I have been married 17 years to Anthony Scott. We are pregnant with our first child, due July 4th. His name is Jackson Wade. We reside in Knoxville, TN.

I had been planning on attending the reunion, so I will miss everyone. Thank you for offering to make announcements.

Blessings,
Beth Fry Scott

“Vegas ‘09″ Latest  REMINDER- Last month for Early Bird Fee for Woodbridge Reunion in Las Vegas
From: Ricky and Gwen

REMINDER-

Last month for $138 reunion fee for the July 24-26th Las Vegas Reunion! Register on website for the reunion http://www.NationalReunions.com. After this month it goes to $153.

Price includes a casual no-host cocktail reception with an array of hearty appetizers on Friday night in the Romance Lounge on the 107th floor of the Stratosphere!
Romance Lounge is an intimate lounge high above the Las Vegas Strip overlooking all of Las Vegas. Fiber-optic lit bar, leopard and leather chairs and live music create an aura of sophistication. We set the tone with the soft glow of stars shimmering over the city lights outside our floor-to-ceiling windows.

A terrific formal dinner and dance Saturday night on the Observation Deck (109th floor) with a beautiful view of the strip! We are planning a short presentation with Woodbridge photo show too!
In the observation deck you soar more than 100 floors above the Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and enjoy panoramic views of the shimmering Vegas Strip and nearby valley. Jutting 1,149 feet into the Vegas skyline, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest observation tower in the U.S. and one of the most exciting attractions among Vegas Strip hotels.

You will also have access to our hospitality suite all weekend long to connect with other Warriors.
And you’ll have access to the awesome rides available at the top of the Stratosphere!
Also, if you want to stay at the Stratosphere we have negotiated rates. But you are also welcome to stay at other hotels on the strip. The Stratosphere is a short cab ride from the center of the Strip. Strat rates are available until June 23rd or whenever we use up our room block of 200. See website for details.
